Introduction

We invite you to participate in the International Seminar On Awqaf 2008 - Awqaf: The Social and Economic Empowerment of The Ummah. The seminar will offer aplatform for discussions, thoughts and ideas and to formulate a resolution to achieve the social empowerment and economic independence of the ummah through Awqaf.

Objectives

• To provide an opportunity for participants to explore and obtain an in depth insight of awqaf
• To enable the participants to identify the obstacles, challenges, problems and opportunities in the development of awqaf and its economic sustainability at the national and international level
• To enlighten the potentials of awqaf as the social and economic framework towards achieving the social empowerment and economic independence of the ummah
• To address the prospects and potentials that can be gauged from invesment in awqaf properties via Islamic finance and investment
• To formulate and extend the conclusions derived from the seminar to relevant authorities for feasible implementations
